Website refresh
Improve the website you already have, on the platform you already use
Who a Refresh is for
A Refresh is for a business whose website is in roughly the right place but is not doing its job. Often that is a retail business already selling or taking bookings through Square, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress, with its products and payments set up there and no wish to move. It also suits anyone who updates their own site and wants to keep doing that after we are done.
A Refresh is probably right if
- Your platform works for you and you want to stay on it
- The site mostly says the right things but is hard to use or hard to act on
- You can name a handful of problems, or suspect there are a few and want someone to find them
What we improve
After a brief fit-and-scope review of your site, which is free, we agree with you on up to five improvements, chosen from the problems that are costing you the most. For each one we agree which pages it touches, what it should achieve, and what it leaves out, because a line like “fix the mobile layout” can hide a lot of work and pinning it down is what keeps the price fixed. The review is a short look at the site to decide what a Refresh should cover, so it does not produce a full Audit or a detailed remediation plan. These are typical examples, and the five we agree on depend on what your site needs.
A homepage that says what you do
A visitor should be able to tell from your homepage what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you, without hunting for any of it.
A working way to inquire, order, or book
We make sure the path from interest to action works, whether that is a contact form that actually reaches you or the ordering or booking your platform already provides, so that it leads somewhere sensible and people can find it.
A layout that works on phones
Most of the people who look you up are holding a phone, so we fix pages that need pinching or sideways dragging, text that is too small to read, and buttons that are hard to tap.
Speed and broken links
We find what is slowing your pages down and repair links that lead nowhere, both of which send visitors away and make search engines think less of the site.
Accessibility and search basics
We fix the common problems that shut out people using screen readers or keyboards, and the basics that help search engines and AI assistants describe your business accurately, such as clear page titles and descriptions.
How it works
One
Tell us about your site
Send us your website address and a note on what is bothering you about it. A complaint from a customer, fewer inquiries than you expected, or a feeling that the site looks dated are all good starting points.
Two
A brief fit-and-scope review
We look over the site at no charge and come back with the improvements we would make. Together we settle on up to five, and for each one we agree which pages it touches, what it should achieve, and what it leaves out. We agree the timing at the same point, before you commit. If the site needs more than five improvements, we can plan the work in phases or scope a follow-on separately, and we only suggest a Rebuild when the foundations or the platform call for one.
Three
We make the changes
To start, we need a collaborator or staff invitation to your platform with the permissions the agreed work needs, and the account stays in your name throughout. We confirm what your platform allows before we promise any fix, and the timing we agreed depends on us receiving that access and any content the work needs. Because we work inside your existing platform, there is nothing to migrate and the way you run the site stays the same.
Four
You review, and we revise once
When the changes are in, you look them over and tell us what you would like adjusted, and we make one round of revisions.
The Refresh
$2,000
Fixed price
A brief fit-and-scope review, which is free, then up to five improvements made inside the platform you already use, each agreed with the pages it touches, what it should achieve, and what it leaves out, and one round of revisions once the changes are in. Timing is agreed with the scope before you commit, and depends on us receiving access and any content the work needs.
When a Rebuild is the better fit
Needing more than five improvements does not mean a site has to be replaced, and when a sound site needs more, we can plan the work in phases or scope a follow-on separately. A Rebuild makes sense when the foundations are the problem, such as a design that cannot be made to work on a phone, or when the platform itself is holding the business back, and if the review shows that, we will tell you.
Our Rebuild replaces the site with the defined package of up to eight new pages built from your existing words and photographs, for $5,900, and the first sample of your homepage is free so you can compare before deciding. A Rebuild is a new site and does not include building new e-commerce or booking systems, so if you already sell or take bookings through Shopify or Square and want to keep that, a Refresh is usually the better route.
Ask about a Refresh
Send us your website address and a line about what you want it to do better. We will look at it and tell you whether a Refresh fits.
